Friday 25th Le Weekend with Gringo da Parada

gringo.jpgA fest of Favela’s finest … baile beats courtesy of music-man extraordinaire, Il Gringo de tout ou rien! Et oui, bien sur, this one’s in full festival flow, so expect even more than the usual dose of Favela flavour old soul, rock’n’roll, electro, disco and general party shenanigans (wine / women y compris).

It’s more of what we know and love: la camaraderie via pop, samba, bossa nova, electronica, funk, breakbeats, southern rock, swing, batucada and groove inesperado …

A kaleidoscope of the purest tradition and the best of cutting edge Brazilian music reflecting the chaotic but harmonious aspects of the Favela… and chic!

Le Weekend avec Ross Clarke

ross.jpgFrom London with love, Clarkie marks the best of years of cross-genre experience in music mayhem! Our resident Mr. English mixes pop, rock, samba, hip hop, baile funk and soul. A step away from the Favela set of baile funk fun and games, Monsieur Clarke can be found under the rays of L.A. where filmi merriment takes hold in the form of pen, paper and further instructions. His story: The Feva night with Mark Rae that spawned Fat City records and the Grand Central label, and founder of long-runner Off-Centre with Patrick Forge and Neil Boorman at 333 Old Street.  6 p.m. – 2 a.m.£10 from 9 p.m.

Le Weekend avec Deany Seagulls

favea_cowboys_31_smaller.jpg

First August Friday for Jimmy and his jeans and it’ll be the usual combination of soul, old skool, new wave, poptastic, baile funk, jazz, hip hop, r’n'b and the best of the rest!

Dean’s dandy is notorious in clothes-swapping circles, and is oft’ found in frivolous garb, inviting all and sundry to pitch in the lunacy that kicks in on the run-up to a full moon.

The cross-dressing demon of Favela’s Magnificent Seven pops in blue breaks, jazz swing and mambo madness amongst other things. It’ll be an inter-continental swoop through jazz, funk, hip hop, hybrid, raw Brazilian beats spinning over some crazy raw through soul, old skool, new wave, poptastic, baile funk, jazz, hip hop, r’n'b and in betweenies.

It’s all about ’stoopid music for stoopid people.’

Gringo da Parada

Master of the Favela flavour (that is all things Brazilian: samba, hip hop, house, drum ‘n’ bass) and face at head of the carnival from Paris to London, Gringo sure did start one helluva party!

Both sides of la manche, Gringo channels the mélange de Brasiuu, nervous and groove inesperado to open ears of all backgrounds.

With France, Brazil, England, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Vietnam, Malaysia, Venezuela, Guadeloupe, Guinea Bissau and a few more … it’s like having the whole world dancing under one roof!

And the Favela sounds oblige …

Samba beats and bossa nova dance with electronica, funk, hip hop, break beats and let’s not forget the batucada besides.
